How we collect, use and look after your information.

Last updated: January 2026

Who we are

Ocean City Fire Safety is a fire protection company based at 322 St Peters Rd, Plymouth, PL5 3DR, and is the sister company of Ocean City Electrical. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” of the personal information you give us.

What information we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to your enquiry and carry out work for you. That usually means:

  • Your name and, where relevant, your company or property name
  • Contact details — email address and phone number
  • Site address and details about the premises we are asked to quote for or attend
  • Any notes you send us about your fire alarm system or extinguishers
  • Job records, service certificates and visit history once you become a customer

How we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and prepare quotes
  • To schedule, carry out and invoice service visits
  • To keep service records and certificates up to date
  • To remind you when your next service is due — part of the service you have asked for
  • To meet legal, insurance and accounting obligations

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use it for third-party marketing.

Our lawful basis

We handle your information under UK GDPR on the basis of: taking steps at your request before entering a contract (responding to enquiries and quoting); performing a contract (carrying out servicing work); complying with legal obligations; and our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, balanced against your rights.

Who we share it with

Only where necessary: our engineers and office staff; our accountants and insurers; and suppliers where needed to complete your job. Where we share data, it is limited to what is needed for that purpose.

How long we keep it

Enquiry details that don’t lead to work are kept for up to 12 months. Customer and service records are kept for as long as you remain a customer and for a reasonable period afterwards (typically six years) to meet accounting, insurance and legal requirements.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Any cookies used are strictly necessary for the site to function.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information where we no longer need it
  • Object to or restrict how we use it

To use any of these rights, email info@oceancityfire.co.uk or write to us at the address above. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
